This is such tragic news. Glad to hear that there were no fatalities. The 17 is a total loss and hopefully will be rebuilt (like how Liberty Bell is currently being restored). Such a shame to hear.

Everything points to at LEAST two fatalities... multiple sources reporting that.

I didn't see that until looking around at some other news sites. Simply tragic. :(

Just had a news flash on my phone that the Collings Foundation B-17 "Nine-O-Nine" crashed and burned this morning in Connecticut at Bradley Airport (Windsor Locks, CT). The incident happened as the plane was landing. Six injured were transported to the hospital.

That's not pretty. Gonna be a miracle if any of the survivors aren't badly injured.

Just saw a pic that appears to show nothing left but half of one wing

Very very sad, however regards what they hit, I believe those are the de -ice fluid tanks at KBDL.

I don't have the words and I almost threw up when I got the text of the crash.
I've flown on her before when I lived in Florida and have always had an affinity for the Collings people. I pray that the reports of fatalities were incorrect.

This is devastating. Nine-O-Nine has changed so many lives and is undeserving of a fate like this. This is the only warbird I've ever flown on.

Was this supposed to be her last tour before thorough restoration? I thought I remember reading that somewhere and that Collings has another B-17?... So so sad it almost made it to her next life if this is true. Prayers to all involved ugh it hurts.

Prayers for those involved.

Would have to imagine after seeing the pictures that it is a complete loss...it would be a data plate rebuild at this point which isn't feasible. I feel that in the next 10 years all the heavy bombers will be grounded as they just will be too expensive to operate. Such a shame.

Yes, they acquired the B17 from the former Evergreen Museum and ferried her to the shop maintenaing their other heavies in Florida.

So sad, crossing my fingers the report about fatalities are wrong...
