I wonder who and what will be done? Hope it gets back into the air! Saw this aircraft in NZ a couple of years ago when it was on display there.

I thought the general consensus among Warbird people was that this P-40E was considered too precious of a time capsule to be restored to fly, and would be better suited in a Canadian National Museum. Maybe replacing a less important / time-capsule P-40 or other suitable fighter?

Chicks Dig Warbirds.......right?

Guessing by what what typically happens: it will be fully and skill fully restored by a fantastic shop to impeccable standards. The buyer, a guy that “ always wanted one” will have it painted in his favorite scheme and he’s been a fan of the P-40 for years. It will take 2 to five years to restore it. Probably three years and only $2 million bucks since it’s all there.
It will be way better than it is now because it will have dummy machine guns with ammo, a Fiberglas drop tank, glossy paint , second seat and be ADS-B compliant, none of which it has now.

If that is what happens perhaps the Egyptian P-40 restoration isn’t that bad in context.....

It's not like we are short of P-40s in museums and this one has no significant combat history. In fact the wings were hacked off at one point and replaced with a new wing from a different aircraft. I really don't see what is so special about it other than it has been owned by one family for a very long time. As far as I am concerned it would make a superb starting point for a really authentic restoration back to flyable condition. In this day and age you KNOW that no buyer is going to add a second seat, glossy paint, or fiberglass drop tank. Indeed, if it gets restored at all, I will bet you money right now that it is to impeccably authentic standards which has been the norm for the last few years.

Its quite a Canadian artifact and I am hoping that it will stay in Canada but we do not have a lot of people in this country that will spend that kind of money on a Warbird .

A perfect world would see the Canadian National Aviation Museum acquire it and sell off the current P40 in the collection

Didn't someone on here say the P-40 and FG-1D Bu92436 (Brian Reynolds) -already listed as sold- are headed to the same owner?
