Nearly three years after the first post restoration flight of our Sea Fury TMk.20 (WE820, ES8504, D-F/COTE, N-85SF, Critical Mass) is headed to the paint shop next week! The mission is to re-create a period correct Royal Navy scheme as she wore while flying with 738 Squadron at Lossiemouth in 1953. I do have a photograph of her a year prior at Culdrose, the side numbers and Hawker marking and stencil blueprints. We've identified a paint system of the correct gloss which can be maintained in respectable condition. I do need help on the correct colours as used on the roundels in 1953.
Here's what I have on Blue, Red and White
Roundel Blue
FS35044
DCC16017
Pantone 295C
Insignia or Post Office Red
FS31136
DCC74720
Pantone 186C
I have nothing on the White..
We have an opportunity to make a really accurate and correct scheme, to include the sheen and all the stenciling for a dual control Sea Fury which has come full circle from RN Trainer to Target Tug to Reno Racer and Back to Trainer, it has flown nearly its entire life.
Can anyone help with the colors? Anyone want to help me
out on font style?
Thanks Ken.
