Apparently the State of Alaska is doing an environmental cleanup of the former Brooks Fuel Site at Fairbanks and they are auctioning off these assets.

https://www.1ststrike.com/auction/dc4-a ... idgallery/

Probably far fetched to think that any will get saved, but at least one looks reasonably complete.

It seems that everyone is trying to sell off their DC4's but hardly any are left in use. I think Alaska Air Fuel might be the last two running commercially?

With all of the DC4's available now, its too bad that a budget operator couldn't pick up a few, but I guess their time has come.
- Bill Dempsay has got 7 for sale (4 in Tucson AZ and 3 in Rantoul KS) reportedly soon to be scrapped if buyers are not found
- Buffalo has got 13 For Sale
- 4 Parts planes at Chandler (reportedly soon to be scrapped)
- 4 Brooks for auction at Fairbanks

I guess time will tell.

Wonder if some of the folks from those "We're Alaskan Rugged Individualists" TV shows will bid on them to use as cabins? Imagine all the opportunities for drama hauling one into the wilderness! :D

Encouraged to see that each airframe has at least one bid on it. There is hope.

5 Bids on the one might be an indication it will survive. i hope so as it looks like it is in decent overall condition. The other 3, I worry are scrap dealer bids........ we shall see pop1

Word on the street is that Alaska Air Fuel picked up N51802. Hopefully it was bought to be kept intact, I guess we will see.
