A big batch of NARA's finest photos. Most of these photos are mislabeled so I'll leave them blank.

That one makes a good case for the modelers that get flak for over weathering!

Amazing array of wire antennas on the PBY.

Meanwhile, dig the cool overall GSB PBJ-1J in the background!

As it has B-24 cowlings, it's obviously something unusual!

XPB4Y-2 ?

I think you're onto something. Looks like MTO desert pink camouflage to me, and that nose turret looks like the normal B-24H/J nose turret, instead of the later Erco model. Early testing, perhaps?

So, does the following narrow down our subject aircraft to either 32086 or 32095?

Three PB4Y-1s (BuNo. 32086, 32095, 32096) were allocated for conversion to XPB4Y-2 prototypes by Consolidated on 3 May, 1943, and all were initially flown without the single tail modification, the first on September 20, 1943. The first two aircraft also retained the standard B-24 engine package. The three were converted to single tail configuration, initially smaller than finally decided upon, in late 1943, and redelivered in February 1944.

I'm guessing that the nose art alludes to the aircraft having been rebuilt after an accident, since the plated over lower nose glazing and slightly different color skin suggests some repair.
