What has become of Tom Hanks' 8th Air Force flick, Masters of the Air"?
I've not heard anything about it in quite some time.

Help,
Owen Miller

Last I heard it was picked up by Apple TV but I haven't heard any details about release dates. It happened right around the time they snagged Greyhound as well.

Yes, I have seen and enjoyed Greyhound. It's not heavy on aircraft,
but I enjoyed it. Masters of the Air has been around for ten years or
so. Someone has to know something......

Here's the latest I can find with Google....

It sounds like they finally were ready to get into pre-production when Covid happenned.
Hopefully they can pick up and continue in a few months.

I read the book and am very much looking forward to the series...someday. I remember that the series was announced way back in the January 2015 issue of "Flying".

And they have not contacted Wendover for the most realistic training base set ever! LOL

I read on a movie forum they're casting in the Oxford area for 18-30 years old men and getting ready to build sets:

I've also seen this, which someone claims was being trucked to a filming location. Anyone have a clue about this?

The UK is in the midst of another stringent Covid lockdown which is undoubtedly delaying things.

All systems go on this movie, Covid notwithstanding.

Primary filming is at former RAF Abingdon, now known as Dalton Barracks. Replica B-17s have broken cover, and locals report new control tower and other buildings erected on set.

I have a mole inside, and at least 3 replicas have been built, and purists will be impressed by the attention to detail.

Wonder if they have the extra wide B17 fuselage interior shots that seem to crop up in movies? :axe:

$10 says it’s filmed edited and released before Top Gun Maverick.
