Took this shot on a very miserable overcast day at JAX NAS.
P-3 assigned to CPRW-11. The “VP-44 Strawberry 5″ paint scheme replicates a scheme used on the PBY-5A Catalina
used by the VP-44 Golden Pelicans to locate the Japanese fleet before the Battle of Midway.

Nice. Interesting feathered prop, too.

Another P-3, another overcast day.

This one in paint to honor the EP-3B,
an electronic variant known as the "Bat Rack."
VP-6 were known as the "Blue Sharks"
I think I got all that right.

Here are a few more I found.
Still think I have more somewhere.

I almost forgot about this one. F-16 84-1264 is displayed at the Fort Wayne ANG airpark in Fort Wayne, IN. While it was in service, the 122nd Fighter Wing designated this jet as its 'Heritage Bird' in honor of the original 358th FG, which flew P-47s in WWII. It has since been repainted in a more typical, albeit less interesting scheme.

The RCAF painted one of their CT-156 Harvard II's in BCATP Harvard markings back in 2016. She is still wearing the yellow paint today.

One of the best looking USN modern aircraft, hands down - F/A-18C BuNo 164673 in the markings of VF-12 circa mid-1945. This was particularly appropriate for this bird, as it belonged to VFC-12 here at NAS Oceana.

I still maintain every USN aircraft should be either overall Gloss Sea Blue or in the tri-tone scheme showcased below by BuNo 163733, representing VF-17 aboard the USS Hornet in early 1945:

Absolutely beautiful! Only way it could be better is if it were VF-84 markings.
