Over the weekend, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands appointed Jack van Egmond as a Knight of Orange-Nassau for his ongoing efforts at maintaining aviation history in that country.

How awesome to see a government embrace its country's rich aeronautical history by honoring those who expend their own blood, sweat, tears, and finances into preserving it! Kudos, Jack!

(FYI: First flight of the Fokker DXXI replica is presently planned for June.)

Well deserved! Jack was involved with the restoration of Spitfire MK732 back in the 90s and he was one of the first three Dutchmen to fly the restored fighter. His firm also built a lovely Fokker C.X replica for the collection of the National Military Museum. Looking forward to seeing the D.XXI fly!

I know a couple of people in Dutch aviation preservation and they both said this honor is well deserved.
My first reaction upon reading this was this was something you could honestly tell people you've gotten the honor but folks might not believe you.
"Oh, you've been knighted... In the Netherlands? Uh suuuuuuuuuuure…"
