When the Avenger flew torpedo missions, was the torpedo dropped according to the pilot's eyeball estimate of altitude and distance to target, or was there a more sophisticated aiming device?

These are pages from another TBM Flight Manual. They give instructions on both torpedo dropping and using the bombsight.
