I was looking at the TBF/M registry and came across this one. I was a volunteer at Bob Ponds Planes of Fame East don't recall anything about this TBF. The SBD was on display for a couple of years before the move to Palm Springs. Bob donated millions to the NMNA so them loaning him a TBF would not have been a surprise. The TBF was never at the Museum in Minnesota. Does anyone have photos or know it's current disposition?

The TBF in question:

Bob had a TBM in British markings. Seems to have been repainted and has not flown in a while.

This TBF was at the museum in Minnesota. I have photos of it(no really good ones however) from a couple of the Memorial Day airshows. I'll try to dig them up.

Apparently returned to Pensacola in 1997 and now on display while under restoration at NAS Deland I'm told.

Wow I have no memory of it at POFE. Do you remember what hangar it was in? The SBD was usually in the KLM Hangar.

Let me see if I can dig up some pics. I have one, a very poor shot of her in a hangar, and the rest she's outside. I'll see what I can find.

Edit: I was thinking of the wrong airframe.

I remember this one at P'cola. It was a very early model,
possibly from the time of the TBFs built for VT-8 at Midway.
I too was told reliably it went to Deland. Dunno its current
status.
