Why is there a star and bar under the left wing of the B-24?

Defending Stearmans on WIX since Jeff started badmouthing them back in 2005.

As seen in "Warbird Report", Air Classics, May 1975:



Note the neatly faired-over nose turret and tail number repeated under the wing - looks like it spent its days as a crew trainer; odd field code "141" on the nose - anyone know where this one was based during the war?

Scott - did you get the B-45 update I sent?

Hey Scott, Is there any way you could update the Grumman Wildcat database? I would be willing to cut a check to sponsor the work.

everyone likes to dig on Air Classics but the "Warbird Report" and the "For the Wreckord" were my favorite articles. there's no doubt the magazine played a huge role in creating interest and saving so many of these old relics. Many more would have been scrapped.

Yes I did and thank you that was great. I'm trying to catch up with things after being down for 6 weeks (and I had a huge backlog before the computer died.)
I will try to update that section soon.
