Looks like another rare SNJ-2 is lost. That makes 3 in the past 10 years or so from Geico. Very sad indeed for the pilot.

Andy and I flew MC-12s together in the AF, and both flew the CAF Airpower Tour T-6 and Stearman.

Latest report I heard from two separate sources (including his wingman on the formation takeoff) was an engine loss of power around 500' AGL, with an attempted "impossible turn back" which ended in him dragging a wingtip and cartwheeling into the crash.

Ugh, but that makes a lot more sense than anything else I'd heard. So sorry for all those that knew him. Wondering if I actually met him down at CAF HQ with the WASP T-6.
