Good looking airplanes. Sadly Technical problems and the fact that it was competition with the AD Skyraider meant that the AM Mauler was not used extensively in front-line service. It spent most of its service operating in the Naval Air Reserve, including at NAS Glenview, Illinois, where these aircraft were based.

Four U.S. Navy Reserve Martin AM-1 Mauler attack planes over Miami Beach, Florida (USA), ca. 1950/51. The Maulers belonged to attack squadron VA-727 based at Naval Air Station Glenview, Illinois.

Yes, an exceptionally nice looking airplane. Too bad there weren't more of them.

As always, thanks for more Glenview birds! Note how the first four have the base "V" tail code angled to be straight when on the ground.

As much as I love the Skyraider, I always thought the Mauler looked more aggressive.
