Gotta love that one P-47 with the painted right wing.

I never knew that some P-47s had a two-tone paint job! Very Snappy! :)

Yes, there are a few with odd wing finishes. I’m not sure it would be an advantage (more like a detractor) to have one wing natural metal finish and the other olive drab. Interesting though.

Can anyone id the church ?

Possibly St. Nicholas church Hamburg, not sure.
Also appears to be a river running the upper width of the pic, and a body of water to the right.

The city in the photo is Frankfurt as identified by the Frankfurt Cathedral (German: Frankfurter Dom), officially the Imperial Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew. The Main river is just on the right edge of the photo so the P-47s are heading eastward.

Definitively Frankfurt, the X at the bottom of the photo is approximately here: 50.11041984937567, 8.677784955464503 The round structure below the centre of the photo is the Paulskirche.

One port wing is visible on the lower right side of the photo by the road & what looks like a white church. Upper left flight of three is actually four with the far left plane being OD. The single plane on the right is flying left wing with an OD & a NM planes flying ahead & to his right.

So do I win a pony or something? Anything?

Mac
