Was it that one going to the Navy museum or another one?

The other one - it was painted and ready to go before the Canadian government stepped in.

“As is where is” and no mention of any spares or support equipment in the listing.

Can someone explain this in greater detail? What I remember is that the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola offered a Kawanishi Rex floatplane (the one previously at the Willow Grove NAS Museum) in exchange for a Mars, but that is the last I heard. So, if the trade has not been consumated, what happened to the "Rex" and what happened to the Mars; where is each of these? Are the negotiations continuing?

Enquiring minds need to know!

If I recall correctly everything was ready to go until the folks with the Navy actually started thinking of the logistics of owning and trying to display something of that size and they decided that it was not within their realistic scope of being able to do so and so they terminated the deal. At the same time the Canadian Govt. came back with that they wanted to keep them there as they provided a national service and therefore were nationally significant and should stay in Canada.

Both of the Martin Mars airframes are on shore at the Coulson base on Sproat Lake, Port Alberni. You can see them on Google Maps.
