If I remember from the original story it's in the mountains of east-central Arizona. Rugged. remote country and on a native American reservation to boot. It may well be 'lost' for a long time.

I doubt it had enough fuel to get to India! Somewhere in the CONUS I'd imagine.

I was told it was flown south and is in a hangar south of the border. The Apache know every inch of their land. It isn't on their reservation.
