One more try. NA-50 variant? P-64 perhaps? It seems that they made very few of these, with variants, so a fixed-gear version may have been built and (almost) forgotten.

Maybe...but it is hard to believe a prototype from such a well known manufacturer could drop through the cracks without a trace.

Not an NAA product. NA-50 (for Peru) was followed by the NA-53 demonstrator (cancelled prior to production) and the NA-68 (NA-50A for Siam). There are no gaps in the NAA records, which include projects which never made it beyond the drawing board.

Definitely not anything on it from North American. Usually there are hints of the designer. Things the person or design team thought were great. Nothing here, not even from the O-47, 47A or O-47B.

Do note the grove of palm trees in the background. They look planted / cultivated like the oil palms in SE Asia. Not saying exactly what kind of palms they are or where they are but it seems to eliminate places like Ohio and Massachusetts.

To me it looks like a Northrop product.
Agree, looks like a 2E or something from the Gamma series.

The Flypast thread that everyone is looking for: Please Identify This Plane. The original source of the image is a listing on the website todocoleccion.

The following proposed identifications were brought up in the thread:
  • Fokker DXXI
  • Gee Bee QED II
  • Gribovsky G-21
  • Hanriot H-131
  • Hispano-Suiza C-36
  • Hispano-Suiza HS-42
  • IAR-24
  • Koolhoven FK-60
  • Lockheed Sirius
  • Loire 210
  • Loire 250
  • Manfred Weiss WM-23
  • Mitsubishi Ki-15
  • North American NA-16
  • Northrop Gamma
  • Seversky SEV-2
  • Seversky SEV-3
  • Vought V-143

As the claim is that the aircraft is somehow related to the Spanish Civil War, there are a few good references for the aircraft used in the conflict:
