Erickson F4U in Fire Aviation today

I think that I remember seeing a thread on the movie Devotion, but I can’t seem to locate it. My last tanker flying was for Aero Air/ Erickson Aero Tanker, so this is what I consider to be my old outfit. This link is to an article on today’s Fire Aviation webpage.

Saw the movie last night - kind of surprising that there were only 4 of us in the theater. Very moving story and excellent flying (IMO). I only objected to a couple things, like peeling off on strafing runs with the drop tanks still attached and doing their carrier qualifications 20 Corsairs parks at the end of a straight deck carrier. Didn’t ruin the experience for me, anyway. You combat vets may find more to object to. Manufactured shots of lines of 20-30 Corsairs or Bearcats were very realistic. Did see a couple of FG-1D’s in one shot.

There is a video on Instagram on the tow of the Corsair to the film premiere. Was hoping to find a youtube link but no luck. Looking forward to seeing more impressions of the film and checking it out myself when it comes to my local theatre.

Pretty sure John also ferried Stephen Grey's first P-51D from Oakland to Geneva in 1980 with Stephen in the back seat. Saw this red Mustang blast over my head near Farnborough and again at Gatwick Airport the next day on the last leg of its trip - a Mustang! Wow! Just been reading a twenty year old thread about him and Sumthin Else at Reno over on AAFO... "good times" somebody said. Sure sounds like that was exactly what they were...

I saw the film last night.
Enjoyed the flying scenes with very few minor beefs.
You just have to accept tiny inaccuracies in a Hollywood film and not get bent out of shape.
I'd recommend this on a big screen.
