Warbird Information Exchange

Here's a few interesting photos of Post-War surplus Japanese aircraft on the mainland. Looks to be lots of Mitsubishi A6M Zeros (Zeke's). I'm not sure exactly what airfield(s) and not sure if these where possibly reserved for a homeland invasion, but you can tell by the lack on propellers it was a post-war time frame.

Cool stuff Mark! What I wanna know is, what did they do with the props!? Most of the post war pics like this or even ground level, no props laying around, hmmm....

Very early after the surrender, Americans insisted that all propellors be taken off the airplanes, so no pilots could get into the air to make trouble.

I saw pictures somewhere of Japanese biplanes that had the equivalent of 55 gallon barrels of gasoline jammed into one of the open seats, presumably for kamikaze work. I wonder if the one picture with a cluster of biplanes was outfitted that way.
