Does anyone have an example or reference for the base insignia (patch, logo, emblem) for Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miami at Opa Locka, FL from 1952-1958 ?
The Marines took over the base from the Navy (formerly NAS Miami) with the 3rd MAG embarked, and relinquished the base to the city and eventually it became home to the Coast Guard.
Examples of the WWII-era Disney-themed NAS Miami insignia can be found, as well as a later NAS Miami insignia featuring an alligator, but so far despite extensive research and perusal of all MCAS base newspapers, I have not been successful in identifying a “base insignia” for the MCAS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
