The Safety Report doesn't definiteively state what occurred: there were no electrical or mechanical deficiencies in Thunderbird 1's aircraft found by any of the various investigators on the Safety Board. That being said, the TAC Commander General Wilbur Creech, was widely known to have meddled in the report prior to its publication, famously saying to witnesses that "Thunderbirds don't make errors".......
Something always smelled bad about accident report of the Thunderbirds 2016 flame out after the Air Force Academy fly over.
The flight was holding for a LOONNNNNGGGG time waiting for behind schedule POTUS to wrap his speech and the hat-toss ceremony to be over. T-birds getting very low on fuel....tick tock. Leader calls for no burner pass to conserve fuel. They do theit pass and depart.
#6 flames out on approach. Punches out and the plane slides in on its belly- no post impact fire. Brief stand down, but team back flying soon, even with mishap pilot while the board is still meeting even with possible unknown engine/throttle issues? Investigation gets slow rolled/extended to give it more time. Eventually finds throttle trigger malfunction and inadvertent throttle pull back to cut off....
.....puts tin foil hat back on hook......I'll let myself out
