Actually there’s plenty that can still be stated. Plenty of veteran interviews that delve into this specific conversation in many ways. All quite interesting regarding duty, morality, respect, honorable conduct during times of war, savagery during times of war and so on. There’s plenty of pilot accounts during WWII, on both sides, of compassionate encounters with the enemy that didn’t result in easy kills. There’s also plenty of veteran interviews that stated actions during combat that in hindsight caused serious regrets. All interesting and valid statements.

A lot goes into the mindset of combat pilots other than racking up kills and duty to perform I’m sure. Although enemies indeed, those enemy pilots are also human beings on the other side, that just may not want to be an enemy. So there’s plenty to digest in a conversation like this one.

All kinds of angles and opinions. I’d even say infinite.

My point was, we're not going to come up with a definitive answer or solve anything.

And my point being. It's a discussion of variables with examples of instances. Not an exercise in finding definitive answers, because there are none.
The whole point of the thread was to allow those who are interested in the topic to add feedback of their own (albeit constructive criticism or respectful feedback, not someone's Trolling BS).
Nowhere was there a stated requirement that anything needed a definitive answer or solution. It's just another thread on WIX for those interested plain and simple.
