It's amazing the things you find when you're not looking. In the process of trying to find my old Manchester airshow pictures I came across two or three from different places around New England so I thought I would put them up for the heck of it.

Now, these first pics are quite old and I'm not going to give too much info about them. I'm curious to see how good a detective the Colonel is.

The aircraft should be readily identifiable, what I want to know is (roughly) when the pictures were taken and at what field. (If he gets it I may have to cough up a whole box of cookies)

Sorry, but you missed by a full year and two states. It was the summer of 86 and I was going to school in Windsor Connecticut. After spending one weekend at home with my folks I was headed back to Broad Brook where I was living. It was getting late in the evening and the sun was low on the horizon when I saw an aircraft in the distance that looked so much like a B 17 it wasn't funny (I had purchased a set of identity cards atNEAM and new it frontwards and back). I could not make myself belive that it really was what I thought it was, you don't just see those things flying about you know. The next day after school I was headed home and went the long way (as I usually did) up by Bradley and around the perimiter road. Low and behold there it sat with a little friend. I snapped those two pics at that time. Two days later a friend got me onto the field after dark and I got my first close up look at a real live B 17, though it would not be my last contact with this paticular plane. It has given me many happy moments over the years, this was just the first.
