Why not start a thread that poeple can request pictures on. Say I wanted to see a updated picture of the PBY that the Fighter Factory has or their P-40E. So I would ask if anyone has it.

Now let me think of something I'd like.

Does anyone have pictures from the Smithsonian Museum to share?

I am sure many others are well aware of this site, but I stumbled to this via a reference elsewhere in this forum and found to have an extensive online collection (copywright and fee for service structured) extensive coverage of types and well beyond that which the "airliner" title implies, it has an excellent search engine, thumbnail and enlarged viewer.

I was at Udvar-Hazy on opening day in december. I went to the NASM while I was out there. All I had was disposable cameras, I'm real sorry I did that, well, not so much, I guess I will go back again to take more pictures with a better camera and a real big flash.

O.P.
Thanks. Over all how was the lighting and viewable were the aircraft? It looks pretty good considering the camera you used. I really can’t wait to go. I wish they would spend some time on the B-17D they have. Wouldn’t that be great to see sitting all together?

The lighting in NASM downtown isn't that good for pictures. Most of the aircraft are in enclosed rooms, making a good flash needed for pictures. Viewing is pretty good. Some aircraft are almost on the ceiling, or are viewable from only one side, but on the whole, very good. Udvar-Hazy on the other hand, great access to all of the aircraft, if you're there during daylight, lighting shouldn't be that big of a problem, I'd still take a flash though. That place is spectacular. There should be even more planes in there now. Maybe the B17 will be there. I know they said more of their planes were going to come out of storage this year and be placed there. You're going to have a lot of fun. Bring tons of film.

I heard they have no plans to touch the B-17 for several years. :?

I will have to have a laptop with me, I needed it at the Airforce museum when I went. Too bad I switched jobs and lost it. I will alos need a new D-Camera. Just like AIRIC has! 8)
