Trae,

Do you have any pics of the 390th BG B-17 "Silver Meteor"? My buddy's dad (Harry James Seip) was pilot on that airplane. Bud Anderson and Leonard "Kit" Carson came to his rescue on one occasion when he had an engine shot out, fell behind the formation and German fighters were about to finish him off...an unbelievable story. My buddy Jim's story of his emotional first meeting with Bud and his wife sent a chill up my spine. Jim (born during WWII) had the chance to thank Bud personally for bringing his dad home and making it possible for him to eventually have siblings.

Paul, here is what I have on "Silver Meteor"....

Silver Meteor was with the 568th BS, and was a "G" model. This a/c was also called "The Walrus". A/C# 2107184 for 71 missions.

Accepted by USAAF 17 Mar 44. Caught on fire 8 Mar 45. Salvaged 15 Mar 45.

I dont have any pics of the bird. I will look at my 390th book at the house. My grandfather was with the 390th / 569th. If nothing else I can make a few phone calls....

As long as we're on a 390th thread, I'm looking for photos of a 569th BS ship, the "Johnny Walker"/"Paydola". Mom's cousin was part of crew #28, and Johnny Walker was his regular ship.

The entire crew was killed in another Fort on an April 24, '44 mission to Friedrichshafen.
