Gave it 4 out of 5 - thought it was fairly accurate with the exception of the final sniper vs sniper face off. Otherwise, it was a good representation of a couple of pages out of William Craig's book Enemy at the Gates.

I liked this movie overall. Its entertaining. I didn't like the "love" scene. They could have done without it. It looked too awkward. Other than that, its a good film. Ed Harris was perfect as Admiral Koenig. If you were ever into video gaming, some of the movie scenes/towns were used in Call of Duty and Red Orchastra.

Not knowing much about the the Battle of Stalingrad, I enjoyed it. I understand it takes some pretty big liberties with historical accuracy though. Apparently a number of Red Army veterans protested the portrayal of Commissars gunning down retreating Soviet troops..they said that was pure anti-communist propaganda on the part of the filmmakers.

I prefer the German 1950s film about Stalingrad, Dogs do you Want to Live for Ever? It's on YouTube in about ten parts with subtitles.
