Movie Review: 300

Fri Apr 14, 2017 2:30 pm

About 300 years before Christ, there was a battle that changed military history. In those days, the two sides in a military conflict would line up like a single ocean wave. They would then surge into the other "ocean wave". The side that had numbers left won the battle. So, at Thermopylae, 300 Spartans, basically the special forces of that time, stayed at a narrow pass performing an excellent rear guard action. The Spartans got their butts kicked as they were outnumbered a tousand to one, but they buy time for the Greek city states to gather an army and kick buttt on the Perians (Iranians). Thermoplyae is also where the double envelopment was first used, squishing the line from opposite ends. So, Frank Miller wrote a graphic novel about the battle andbturned the novel into a movie. He even made the movie look like a graphic novel. Frank Milller, at one time was my idol, then he went Hollywood. His scripts have a lot of overbthe top stuff that I dislike greatly. The movie ignored the double envelopment and completely ignored the order of battle. For that reason, I find this movie to be bubble gum forbthe mind. One star out of five.
