looked on ebay and they run about $105 each, but mine are like new, only been paged thru, still $500 shipped.

You'll keep bumping til the price gets sensible. Check eBay Completed Listings and you'll see that Vol 2, 3 & 4 recently sold for $144.00 and Vol 1 & 2 sold on 5 February for less than $99.

Unfortunately, in any "educated" location, he's probably right, unless it's signed or something. Some things are that way these days, and it seems the buyer pool is small.
I used to think my bare-bones AR-15 that I bought at the beginning of the Obama age was worth $7-800, too when I decided I needed to sell it to fund an aviation project. Turns out you can get one from PSA brand new for under $500 now that's more tricked out. I had to settle for a more "realistic" price in order to move it.
