Here's a brief update on my search for the first flight date of the (Y)P referenced above. Calling it (Y)P as the record card lists it initially as such but the next airframe's card, 39-705, is definitely YP-43.
09/13/40: Airframe complete
11/19/40: Wrecked at Farmingdale, L.I., NY
12/20/40: Survey voucher #2494 completed
06/13/41: Survey approved
So far the following have contributed either information or comments or both on the search:
USAF Historical Research Agency (copies of the actual s/n cards)
San Diego Air & Space Museum ((library)

Robert Dorr
Cradle of Aviation Museum
Long Island Republic Airport Historical Society

Currently I have a request in to the National Archives so it's not over...yet.
