A post over at Hyperscale is making the claim that a nearly complete Do-335 has been discovered stored underneath a castle in Germany. Their is reference to an article in the French model magazine "Cocardes". Seems like something that would have generated a LOT more attention than what I've come across thus far. Hoax?

It says a second survivor was discovered in a German castle. The images are the aircraft in question. It apparently was an aircraft that made a bad landing and went back to the factory to be updated, but was never completed. It is complete with some armament, although some parts like the wings aren't finished. Basically it is a collection of major assemblies, finished enough to be considered as a second survivor of the type.

Awesome.

Couldn't they take a photo of all of it at once? Dying to see what there is.

Can anyone imagine the bidding war between Paul Allen and either of the two Berlin museums (Luftwaffe and Technicmuseum) that would badly want this? There could be other interested players willing to spend several million $.

OK, my French is really lousy. So some guy buys a castle and finds this while doing a walk through with the remodeling contractor? Or has it been in the same family since 1944, but no one ever went downstairs? It's not complete so it can't be a little old lady who only flew it on Sundays. I really hope it's true and the next room is full of TA-152's with a rail car of Jumo and DB engines. I'm just sayin'.

It's a Do 335B-2, the pics show just enough of the windscreen and canopy to tell the difference; it's also got an EZ 42 gyro-stabilized gunsight mounted, which is just about as rare as an actual Do 335.

What I see looks real, but my spidey sense is tingling on this... how does something like this exist for 70+ years with NO ONE knowing about it? The author of the article sounds convinced of it's authenticity, but I'd like to see more of what they have. Regardless, we have SOMETHING here, and that's more than we knew about yesterday. :)

while in resto, use this as a pattern eh? i want to see a new one of these in the air! badly. i haven't been this jazzed since the desert sentinel find (which didn't go as well as hoped). seems these chateau guys are being clams. there is an unfinished replica in germany, but it didn't take two seconds to realize, this ain't it.

What are the chances that this is a full-scale replica that's being misrepresented? I seem to recall there being a fellow in Europe who builds replicas of Luftwaffe wonder weapons and IIRC I would best describe his shop as castle basement-like.

Colour me skeptical on this one.

I'm thinking the same thing Tim. If it is real, well then its awesome! Just sounds a bit too good to be true.

You know, when I think about, the cockpit photos do look a bit dust-free for 70 years in a basement. Thing just look too ... new.

it does look very clean. but, it has been under wraps since being hidden. we surmise, from the allies? one thing for the skeptics, a cockpit photo from WW2 i have been doing A/B comparisons with all day, has the clock at also 10:10. very coincidental.
