Here in the Mid-Atlantic Region, we are putting together a re-enacting unit based on the 14th Liaison Squadron. The Squadron was sent to Normandy on July 4th 1944 and began flights out of St Saveur on July 6th 1944. Thereafter, the unit followed Third US Army across Europe to the end of the war. We welcome anybody who is interested in portraying a Liaison Squadron in the field. On 30 September and 1 October, we are having a Field Training Exercise at an airfield on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We will be conducting basic military, airfield operations, and flight operations training, and live fire of squadron weapons including M-1 Rifle, M-1 Carbine, and M-1911 Pistol. This event is by invitation only for planning purposes. If you are in another unit and want to participate, we don't need you to change your unit affiliations. We intend to go to other activities on the East Coast, Mid Atlantic Region. Looking forward to having you participate.

Do you have anyone in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area? We have a fly-in, in early spring, and we now have 4 L-5's (mostly Ginny Short Lines)and one L-3 (36th Division), plus a half track, M-38, M38A1, and a couple of other military vehicles here at the hanger. There is also a active military vehicle group in the area. Seems like we could put together a good weekend for re-enactors and L-Bird guys if nobody else showed up. We have a good area for a bivwac for tent set up and would make a great place for photos. We hosted the aviation artist national gathering several years ago, and we got some good stuff out of that. Well, hope to hear from you,
Tom Swindle

I'd sure like to be kept informed about how this goes. I'd like to find a way to do that here in the South Central Texas area with our group. I've been trying to get something similar together for our annual picnic in May.
