Sorry, Bill, Skybolt is right- an A&P could get in trouble for an unauthorized instrument repair(any instrument repair without proper credentials). FAR's prohibit it.
Just call a good instrument shop, and ask them how long it would take to replace the fluid- it shouldn't have to "sit on the shelf for a month" if the shop is any good.. You can probably have your friendly neighborhood A&P remove it, then you can run it over, and they'll fill it while you wait It is a petty simple operation- unless there is a leak- and then run it back to the A&P for reinstall... Shouldn't be more than a day down time if you hand carry it to the Instrument Shop.
