I thought we were in a Recession? More specifically, we are currently experiencing falling demand and price deflation for most goods and services in the current economy. I'm sure that the way we are printing money in the U.S., Stagflation is right around the corner but right now, prices on things like mid-1980s Rolls Royces, Stearmans, DC-3s, and vacation rental investment homes in Destin, FL. are dropping. So please explain to me how a manual for an Emerson CH150 turret can blow past my "$100.00 max, no problem Dan K, I got it" ebay bid? It's a manual for an "also ran" turret that no longer exists that was only installed in an "also ran" airplane that no longer exists. There were 15 bids on this thing so somebody here on WIX was bidding or at least knows the two guys that duked it out during the last hour of bidding today. C'mon, come out from behind that bush, show yourself! Dan K and I just want to talk....

Don't feel bad--two of us went toe-to-toe for an Operation and Maintenance Manual for a Link Celestial Navigation Trainer a couple of years ago. My opponent won, but it cost him a LOT of money to beat my final offer.........and I still wish I'd bid more.

What is the old expression,"The price the market will bear"? The market has taken it, so perhaps your calculations aren't totally correct. I say this with all due respect.

Those original manuals always go to the highest bidder which is no doubt one of those manual scanning people who price gouge everyone for PDF scans of manuals on CDs. They'll always outbid you, because they'll recoup the cost on the back end by inflating the price of their PDF scans. They are very coordinated and will bid on anything original manual. :?

Ha.. I beat them at their own game. My friend had a project airplane w/ one of these manuals on CD that came with it. He just gave me a copy!

for the most part ebay has turned into a giant flea market / garage sale & has deteriorated to a venue where everything goes for "how cheap is cheap"?? as a professional merchant, it's disgusting, but i realize the economy is certainly a factor, & while i need the $$$$ i won't sacrifice 1 piece of my collection in that flim flam atmosphere. selling your soul, (with bids no less :? ) & a grilled cheese sandwich with the image of christ about sums up where that auction site has gravitated to.

Yeah I feel your pain. I mean I've bought some original manuals on Ebay for $40 - $70 before.

Last week someone was selling an original F-102 and F-106 flight manual (among others). I wanted at least one of them but they both sold for over $200 each! Forget that! Whatever the market wil bear I guess but jeez...
