WOW!!! Very nice job. And I complained about waxing my old full size van! Meguiar's of course!!!

I like the gallon can of polish! I can't wait to see this at Chino if it is there in a few weeks.

After polishing for weeks on the C-47 with just one helper I see what I need is an Army of people. Looks like it is easier if you have a good basis to start with. We started with 60 years of oxidation.

My guess is that the chin turret, pumpkin tail turret and the cheek gun positions are fiberglass replicas thus they can't be polished and will have to remain painted.

I bet if you told the Mythbusters that you can't polish fiberglass then they just might prove you wrong!

I think the ball turret was one of the the original turrets that were cut in half for Tora, Tora, Tora, so it might be metal and hence, you might be able to polish it.
Anybody know for sure?

It looks as though I'm the only one here who doesn't like the new look. I prefer warbirds to look something like they did in the period. If I want to look at a blinged-up mirror-finish modern-day artifact, I'll go see the exec jets at the airport.

On second thoughts, perhaps I'm not the only one - it was interesting to see the interest and hear the comments that 'Princess Elizabeth' and 'Twilight Tear' received at GML 2 years ago.

Personally, I think it looks absolutely hideous, as do all warbirds indulging in this mirror-finish fad.

And here I thought they did look something like this in the period.

I bet if you trace the provanance of that picture, you'll find that they are factory-fresh aircraft that have never been anywhere a combat zone, hence the lack of any unit markings whatever.
