Didn't end up making it out to the CH2A today, I had a lot of stuff going on. I will be out next week for sure though.

I do have some more info about the prop corrosion problems though. The corrosion showed up on the individual propeller blades, there were a few repairable spots found on the paddle part of the blade, there were also some spots found on the leading edge along the de-icing boot, and the main problem was corrosion at the blade root, where it becomes completely round. They figure this was caused by the wire mesh screaning that was put on the area where the blade passes through the spinner. FM104 in Toronto has the exact same problem.

Well yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day, not much work got done on the plane but we got it moved out of its hanger so Red Bull can use it for storage.

Actually Mike was talking about that with a few guys that came in on a tour, he didn't say an exact date but he did say it would be coming in very soon.

It is my very sad duty to inform you of the passing of our Lancaster veteran, Stan Jones. Stan served with the 101 Special Duties Squadron, Lancaster Bad Penny. Stan was the Wireless Radio Operator who flew in one of the first two Lancasters to drop food to the people of Holland. After he reported back, that their aircraft were not attacked, Stan gave the message to send numerous Lanc's and other aircraft loaded with food which officially became known as "Operation Manna". For those of you who did not know Stan personally, he was a soft spoken, eloquent gentleman, with a terrific sense of humour. He has been involved in the CH2A Lancaster Project for many years and has been an invaluable source of information and advice. And to those who knew Stan well, no words need to be spoken.
His loss will be felt be all.

Nancy Kohuch
Director CH2A

I wasn't really sure how to inform everyone about this, I figured forwarding the message sent by Nancy would be best. I never had the chance to meet Stan, I really wish I did though. RIP Stan, you will be missed by many. :(

Ryan,
That is sad news. I don't believe I had the honour of meeting Stan as I think he became involved after me. Sad news though, thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends.

I am very sorry to hear about Stan's passing. It sounds like he was a great gentleman his entire life and up until his final days. I am sad never to have met him, but I feel privileged to have known many fine men through the Canadian Museum of Flight.

I honestly feel that our world will never seen men like these again. It saddens me immensely each time that I hear of another veteran/inspiration passing.

God speed.

Here are a few pics and updates from today...

The main projects right now are the media booth and paint stripping (now that the weather is nice :) ).

Here are a few pictures from yesterday. 4 of the Blue Crew are working on paint removal on the tail section and are now starting on the rear fueslage. 2 others are working on the one of the wings as well.

The upper turret is also coming along well, most of it has been reasembled. Only one of the .50's is real the other is made of wood, this is only temporary though.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. It has been so hectic around here with RBAR and me having exams over the last week. Because RBAR has been in town for at least a month little work has gone on the Lanc other than some more paint stripping. Now that they are gone, work should start picking up again. I should have an update by next weekend.

If anyone would like more info about the history of the Lanc and what the plans are for it check out my article in last months issue of AirShowStuff online magazine.

Great to see the work being done. I hadn't realised she was underway (probably confused her with the Toronto Lanc).
