Fellow WIXers -
Just a quick note to remind everyone of this weekend's airshow in Virginia Beach. It looks like Mother Nature is going to smile on us (for a change!) weather wise, and it will be a great show.

The schedule of events (including the flight schedule) is linked below and it looks awesome! :D

http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/blog

Several new aircraft will be there this year, inluding the museum's B-17 "Chuckie" and a special appearance by the Lancaster bomber from the Hamilton Ontario museum.

Special guest WWII veterans including Col. Bud Anderson (P-51 triple ace)
2 Original Doolittle Raiders (Cole and Griffin)
"Dutch" Van Kirk (Navigator of the Enola Gay)
"Wild Bill" Guarnere (101st ABN, "Band of Brothers)

Hope to see you there!!

Looks like a Great air show and weather looks fantastic. Too soon for me after just getting back from Chino last weekend, but I hope everyone has a good time.

Ed, I am THERE! I'll be hanging out with other Air Corps re-enactors, and am getting seriously jazzed for this event- just found out the MiG-3 will be flying as well, which is going to be utterly amazing.

This is going to be one amazing show!

Looking forward to coming to Virginia Beach! I'll be part of the crew on the Lancaster.
Weather has been the pits up here, it is just lifting now, hopefully tomorrow we get some flights in on the Lancaster before heading down Friday.

Count me in, most likely for Sunday with my daughter and her husband. Have been wanting to see the Lancaster for years. Throw in flights of the Fw-190, MiG-3, B-17 along with the restored FM-2 and repainted PBY, should be a great day.

Could I fly the L 4 in from Suffolk or is it restricted? Not even sure it will be out of annual but always nice to get a chance to land on a grass field around here. Of course I wouldn't want to take all the attention away from the B 17 and Lancaster :)

I hope it was better than today. 50 kt wind gusts and marble sized hail along with about 1 1/2 inches of rain in about an hour.

I love Va Beach weather. Seriously though local forecast for Saturday is very good.

Here's what the museum web page for the airshow says:

Quote:
Pilots / Visiting Aircraft

Visiting Aircraft/Pilots: Are invited to arrive by single engine piston aircraft except during 1 to 3:00 PM Saturday and Sunday when the airport is closed. PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT HERE …

“The airport is a private use airfield and aircraft are not permitted to land without prior permission. This is normally not approved, unless an open event during the airshows, which are held in the spring and fall. Any other special circumstances should be first discussed by phone with the Museum Director. Our neighbors are very sensitive to airplane noise over their homes. It is unfortunate that the City of Virginia Beach does not have a municipal airport, but if you were to join the Navy, then you could land all that you want at the nearby Oceana Naval Air Station (Approach Frequency 119.6).”

Certainly sounds like a good time there VaBeachEd! I am sure a whole lot of Warbird lovers from here in Lynchburg are gonna do the same as me...our show on Saturday and yours on Sunday! Or, vice versa...either way...one more reason to love Virginia :D

I've been looking forward to this event for months. We're bringing the C-47, should be fun!

Well i guess ill chime in here for a second, i can say that the YAk 3 came over from suffolk today, the 17 came home(and looks awesome inside) the N3N came back home and the Mig 3 should (if it stops pitching fits) and make its flight over from suffolk as well. Before anyone ask i dont know times and so forth... im on the bottom of the food chain there so i dont know until its like hey its on its way and 10 mins out or whatever and dont have time to post on here with something like that... sorry.
