CASA GRANDE, AZ (CBS5)

A pilot escaped injury but the replica vintage World War II German airplane(FW-190) he was flying was not so fortunate after it veered off the runway in Casa Grande on Friday morning.
Replica vintage WWII plane crashes
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the experimental Arado-Flugzeugwerke GMBH landed around 9:10 a.m. when it suddenly veered left off the runway.
The plane suffered damage to its left wing and landing gear, but a full estimate of damage was pending, Gregor said.
The pilot had taken off from Casa Grande Municipal Airport for a local flight.
The FAA registry lists Daniel Kirkland of Kingman as the plane's owner.

Agreed - thought it was way worse.

Should be posted as a landing accident, thought it was way way worse.

Glad the pilot is OK.

Needs the heading changed!

There are some good photos here. Looks like considerable damage to both wings, among other things.

I'm gutted Dano and it's not even my airplane. I can't imagine how you're feeling at the moment. Keep your chin up.

Unless someone has fould a way to mimic wood splintering with metal, those are wooden.

@Dano: Sad news regarding your plane, but fortunately no one was hurt. It is not easy to see such a fine a/c, so much work, enthusiasm and money in such a state. BUT: I do wish you have the power and will to go on. Thumbs up, Dano, keep going.

Hallo!

Here you can read more about the structural problems of the FW 190 A-8/N.
It is an information from the German LBA. The LBA is the German aviation office.

http://www.warbirds-eaa.org/news/2012%2 ... 0owner.pdf

Kind Regards.
