Hi Everyone,

As I mentioned in the thread regarding the new F6F Hellcat acquired by Fagen Fighters, I’ve recently been editing my video footage of the Planes of Fame 2006 Airshow - featuring 3 flying F6F Hellcats.

I have finished the process of editing all the video footage from the 2 days and have posted the videos, along with still photos, to my SmugMug site.

2006 POF Airshow Link:

http://www.vgbimages.com/AirShows/2006- ... w/n-S7jbJZ

The total footage for the Saturday clocks in at just under an hour of video - broken up into 3 segments to conform to SmugMug video size restrictions. Part 1 starts with footage of the statics and moves into action around 2:30.

It was a blast to relive the show - our FIRST ever POF airshow - and revisit the opening ceremony flyover of the P-26, AT-12, P-51 and F-86 formation, F2G Super Corsair acrobatics, the Fairey Firefly, all sorts of Warbirds, the 23 strong Warbird gaggle and an unobstructed taxiway.

For the F6F fans, the Saturday 5/20/06 footage of the Hellcats in action is as follows:

Pond F6F taxis by in Part 1 around 17:42 and takes to the skies in Part 2 around 1:58.
Friedkin F6F taxis by in Part 2 around 18:48 and flies in Part 3 around 1:43 and the CAF F6F “Minsi III” taxis by in Part 3 around 7:48 followed immediately by the Friedkin F6F around 7:51. “Minsi III” starts take off roll in Part 3 around 10:46 and Friedkin F6F around 12:01.
Sunday’s videos total around 26 minutes broken up into 2 videos - the first of which is airshow action and the second is post-show departures and such.

Sunday’s footage shows the CAF and Friedkin F6Fs but not the Pond - we arrived late for Sunday’s show.

A few still photo teasers:

Enjoy!

This is WAY too cool!!! I was only 10 at the time, but I'm 99% sure I was in attendance. Awesome to relive it, especially with the in depth footage and photos that are impossible to find online.

Side note I really miss the old hot ramp setup :(

Do you or anybody know where the 2 Wildcats are now? I've seen the dark blue but don't remember the lighter blue

*Light blue is Lewis'

I really have enjoyed this, Vagabond, thank you! They had quite a great selection of aircraft that year.

In addition to the light blue F4F-3 Wildcat which is now part of the Lewis collection, the other one, the dark blue FM-2, is the Friedkin/Comanche Fighters example.

I knew I had seen it before, thank you! Dan always helps make the ramp more presentable. It was interesting to see his MKIX there too. Perfect timing as it'll be flying there 12 years later at this years show.

Thanks Guys! - Glad to contribute!

I remember the F4F-3 Wildcat as belonging to Tom Camp at that time.

I really miss that hot ramp setup too! It was so much fun to be on the flight line, hear the engines roaring, and be surprised at what came rolling around that corner.

Don't recall that. Tom has an FM-2 (seen below) but he does not show up on the list of owners of N72260. Unless it just passed through his hands on the way to somebody else?

Prior to Rod Lewis purchasing it, the F4F-3 had been owned/operated by Steve Craig.
