Say it ain't so! What a great run that aircraft has had with Butch Schroeder, from its discovery to complete restoration. This was one of the, if not the first real, in-depth Mustang restoration that really concentrated on authenticity, and the work still holds up after all these years. I hope it goes to a good home.

For those more interested in the story of this aircraft, I would highly recommend the book "P-51 Mustang Restored," by the late Paul Coggan. A great, in-depth look at its discovery and restoration with excellent photographs.

A post on the Sywell aerodrome page showed the aircraft outside Air Leasing's hangar here in the UK last week, didn't know it was there until I saw the post. No idea of owner as yet however.https://www.facebook.com/SywellAerodrom ... =3&theater

Elsewhere on Facebook it has been said that the aircraft is owned by Giovanni Marchi (who is also restoring another P-51D in Italy). The aircraft was assembled by Air Leasing at Sywell, to be flown from England to Italy where it is to be based - supposedly the same airfield in Italy that Carlo Coltri has the P-51D "Marinell" based. For my UK friends, hopefully it will make an airshow appearance or two in England this year (such as Legends).

BTW, Butch Schroeder, previous owner of "Lil' Margaret", now owns and has taken delivery the P-40K N4436J, previously owned by Tom Duffy.
