pretty poor PR. Have to open a PDF file to see a texted list of aircraft with no detail as to which ones.
I wish Geneseo could be hyped up like it used to be. But the aircraft list doesn't show up till a few weeks before the show. I never hear anyone talk about it anymore.
Geneseo is and will be what it is...a nice grass roots/grass strip airshow. BUT, where else can you go where you can stand next to warbirds all day long while they start up, taxi in and shut down, having full access to the crews? What other airshow ALLOWS COOLERS?!? What other warbird show allows kids under 12 FREE?!? I can't think of any.
The NWM has a strong following on FB and Craig Wadsworth is very involved there. He regularly replies to posts. The NWM is doing some heavy advertising this year including TV and radio. Yes they are tight lipped about the warbird list, but that is only because they are very sensitive to the feedback should a particular warbird not show up. However, the P-63 is already there.
I've been going to the "new" show now for 11 years and have come to realize that there won't be a return to the way the shows were in the 80's and 90's. The funds are just not there. That doesn't mean it's not worth supporting. My hope however, is that it might become a well known small laid-back type of show that the warbird owners want to fly into and support. Look at the TBM Gathering and Ray Fagen memorial threads. A small warbird only show that probably just pays for gas, and just might become a go to destination for warbird owners. The Genesee valley is beautiful country! I hope it happens.
The NWM has "invited" over 75 aircraft.
