May have crashed today. Chino tower asked my general aviation hangar tenant to look for it and there is a smoke plume.

An absolutely heartbreaking loss - both the pilot and the plane. But while it might theoretically be possible to build a new N9M, the pilot can never be replaced.

My deepest sympathies go to his family, friends, and the entire Planes of Fame organization at this sad time.

Lynn

Awful news. I imagine there were lots of security cameras in the prison, so at least the investigators will have planty of info to work with.

Not likely, the engines were as rare as the airframe was, and the majority of the surviving engines were installed in the N9MB.

Sad loss of a rare aviator, technician, and aircraft. My condolences to the family, friends, and team at POF.

The plane is gone. Pictures of the crash site shows very little left identifiable after the fire. :(
