B-26's in formation looking straight down. The middle B-26 in the back row suffers a right engine loss which causes it to bank to the right and into the B-26 on it's right. Both are lost.

That last series is unbelievable Mark and I am astonished the engine was “lost”. At first I thought engine failure, but it appears the engine simply separated from the wing and fell away. Wether it was Flak damage or mechanical failure it’s a tragic sequence of photos.

In the picture before the impact, it looks like the pilots of the second aircraft are attempting to take evasive maneuvers. Sad part is, how quick the entire sequence of events took place.

I posted these photos before and if I recall the B-26's engine was hit by a dropped bomb from above. If you look closely you can see white objects (bombs dropping) in the photos.
Another tragic reality of War.
