/Users/Dana/Desktop/B-47, EDF AFB, 1973 013.jpg

This B-47, 20281, had lain in the fire training pit area, Elmendorf AFB, long before I took the pic, around 1972.
It was later broken-up and scrapped, along with a C-124 Globemaster II (21st Comp WG, last -124 in active-duty in 1975), around 1977. I was told that the B-47 had been written-off for irreparable structural damage, during landing (none were based at Elmendorf). I am unable to find any history on this one; if anyone can offer an anecdote, I'd just like to tag my archive pics correctly. B-47 operational losses were horrifying in number -- over 400 crashes all over the country.

Thanks for any input,

Dana
