For the 75th Anniversary of VJ-Day there will be several warbirds in Hawaii.
Erickson's Mustang has been on the islands since early June and several have been loaded onto LHD-2 USS Essex for transport to Hawaii.
Has anyone seen a schedule of events in HI for the celebrations?
Here is a list the ones I've seen that will be there. Does anyone know which 2 TBMs will be there?
Any additions?
F8F Bearcat Bu121776 N68RW
PV2 Harpoon Bu84062 N6657D
PBY 1074 N9767
PBY 11074 N222FT Flying Turtle
P-51 Mustang A68-39 N551D
P-51 Mustang 45-11633 N151MW Lady Alice
FM2 Wildcat Bu86819 N5833
2x T-6/SNJ ? White 48 Navy and Polished metal AAF scheme
2x TBM
T-28 ?
Stearman

If I didn't already have a trip planned, I'd looking at prices for a trip to Hawaii  ...

I think Taigh Ramey has been posting videos on Facebook of the loading of the aircraft. Hopefully they will be well wrapped for the sea voyage.

The modern Essex is about the same length as the USS Hornet, so how about a Doolittle Raid style launch!

This looks awesome! I would love to go but I couldn't afford the two week quarantine stay before I could leave the hotel - LOL.

I think I heard the Harpoon lost an engine on the way down and is a no go.

Mike Rawson (HELLDIVERS) posted pictures of TBM Bu53119 N33BM (another ex Connie Edwards bird) being loaded onto the Essex.

That's the Commemorative Air Force's Wildcat, N5833, operated by the FM-2 Wildcat Sponsor Group. It received a new, very authentic US Navy tri-color scheme last year, performed by Steve Atkin of Warbird Colour. The VC-27 squadron markings were just recently added.

David Prescott's B-25J "Old Glory" just made it into San Diego this afternoon, possibly the last aircraft to be loaded aboard the USS Essex, which I believe sets sail tomorrow. The aircraft had been receiving quite a bit of attention at American Aero Services in Florida ahead of this trip.

Tanks John, a much more 'authentic' scheme than the previous
