96885. I have inquired the FAA records through the Internet but the
information is incomplete. Specifically I am looking for a valid address
on:
John P Silberman the listed owner of BuNo 122719
Mike George the listed owner of BuNo 124486
Graham Hosking the listed owner of 124493
Ray Adams the listed owner of 97382
Lori Crown the listed owner of 97059 & 96885
I know that some of the aircraft have been used to rebuild others but I
am researching a project on the Honduran Corsairs. Please forward any
information on these individuals if you can.

Hi guys;
We haven't decided if we will have a symposium with the pilots yet. Our main goal was to get them there to meet the younger generation and to honor their service. Obviously, we understand the drawing power of such a line-up and they will be available throughout the weekend not only at the airport, but at a dance Saturday Night. We don't want to overwhelm them, but they know what happens at these events. Since it is a three day event, there will be various times when each pilot is scheduled for a stint in the autograph tent, but we want them to enjoy the display, so I don't anticipate them sitting for hours on end in the tent signing everything under the sun for three days straight. If they want to, that's fine, but we really just want them to be here and be able to talk to people.
As far as photographers and press passes, I would need information, credentials, and a small resume of past work. I know there will be a lot of interest and I want to make sure that we take care of everyone as fairly as possible. Obviously, local newspapers, and press with assignments from a bonified publication take precedence, but we are striving to be as press and photographer friendly as we can. Every effort is being made to design the displays so that from several particular angles, it will appear as though it's 1944 on the Vought ramp. Everything except the tower is still there from WWII, so we are working to keep the newer structures behind the crowd, out of the view of a careful photographer. I won't be able to stop an errant G-IV from taxing by, but I guarantee it will eventually leave the background!
If anyone has the need for press passes, e-mail me at:
airdales@cox.net
I'll put all requests before the committee and go from there.
Blue skies,
Jerry

I forgot Part II of the answers:
There are other aircraft that will be attending: B-25 "Panchito", P-51, AT-6, PT-23 and a few others as the budget permits. We never planned this event for more than about 15 aircraft max. It's focused and pointed at the men and woman who made history. The Corsair's are really just a tool to help focus attention to the Veterans Salute, the Veterans, and the WWII Home Front workers from the State of Connecticut.
Remember, the Corsair was a tool, it didn't make history by itself, it was the men and woman who built it and flew to war that made the history!
Long after our heroes from WWII are gone, there will still be Corsairs around to help remember and honor them.
Right now, it's about the people.
Blue skies,
Jerry

Hi,
I was just made aware of this event. Since it's pretty close to Montréal, I might fly down with the old man in the Focke-Wulf.
Would I be welcomed? We'd stay for the Saturday only, flying back home in the evening.

Hello Ollie;
We have limited display ramp space for this event. Since it is not an airshow, we are not shutting down and taking control of the entire airport. Of the four, large, Vought Hangars, we will only be using one. There's much corporate activity that goes on and we're tying to minimize disruptions.
You are more than welcome to attend, but I can't guarantee that your aircraft will be parked on the display ramp. If we have room on that particular day, we may be able to park you in the display area.
An additional reason is that unless it's an FW-190, you may have to park with the transient aircraft on the other side of the field. The focus is WWII and we are trying to create a real period effect (to such an extant as we can) in the display area. We have transportation from the transient parking area to the display ramp, so that should pose no problems.
thanks for your question and I hope you do come down to Startford. It's going to be a great event!
Blue skies.

Ok, thanks, we'll think about it, since crossing the border is always a complicated thing with a Warbird!

The site has been updated. Looks great. I can't wait
I'd love to go to the symposium, so I may be hanging out there Friday. Depends on the weather also.
So what does the WIX attendance look like, a bit under 3 weeks?
I’m thinking of making the run to MAAM WW2 weekend either Saturday or Sunday, just an idea at this point. It really is going to depend on the weather.
Should we be prepared with signing material or will that be provide at a signing cost? Just wondering, how many of the pilots have books that could be signed?

I'm going!

Which day are you planning for? Beside the nicest day.
Any interest in a run to Reading? No guarantees at this point but...

Saturday definately, as for Reading I'll have to see what the logistics look like and I'll get back to you.

I wish I could go to Reading! I've been going as a participant since the first one in 1989 and my wife and I will both be missing out on it!
Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick with the Corsairs all weekend! (It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!)
Today, May 17th, 2005, the Govenor of Connecticut is signing the bill into law that will make the Corsair the "Official Airplane of the State of Connecticut". From now on, May 29th will be "Corsair Day" in Connecticut! I don't think that's ever been done before!
Hope to see you all in June!
