For anyone in the Western PA area, Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin will be celebrtating the 75th anniversary of the airport on Sept. 9, 10. Scheduled aircraft are:
P51 and SBD Dauntless from the Dixie Wing, C47 and JU52 from the Great Lakes wing, L5 and L9 Stinson from the Keystone wing, F4U Corsair by Mint Moore, Tim Chopp's C54 Spirit of Freedom, Viet Nam era Sikorsky helicopter (Dont know the model) several Stearmans, 1936 Beech Staggerwing and lots of modern Military displays along with some Corporate planes and Medevec helicopters. The P51, C47, Stearman, and the Sikorsky helicopter will be selling rides.
Opening ceremony is Saturday at 9:30 AM. They will honor Dan Rooney Sr., Don Riggs and Adam Lynch for their contribution to local aviation over the past 50 years, followed by a fly by of a KC 135 Tanker from the refueling wing at Pitt. (Bring your camera!)
