Ultra light Corsair Replicas

Sun Apr 23, 2006 7:01 pm

hi to everyone out there, i'm looking at building something a little bigger than a model, but i know that you guys pay special attention to detail and scaling, and i would love to know if any of you have the plans that you used to build your models from.
I'm wanting to build myself a flying replica as an ultralight, and just need a bit more detail to make my own drawings from.

Do you have the capabilities to make sure your design is safe? You can't just scale up a model and make an airplane. What requirements does your aviation authority have for structural analysis of your homebuilt? What are your qualifications to do this?

I do have people who can check to make sure that the plane is structually sound.
The main issues i have with regs on home built is that is has to be under 554kg and stall speed of less than 55 knots... I have managed to work out that i am able to do that with a few mods to the plane, but what i would really like are some plans so that i am able have the plane looking as close as possible to the original and do more appropriate scaling

War Aircraft Replicas offers plans for these:

They actually do look quite good in person! Photographed this one just last week. The only problem is that my head is oversize at that scale when sitting on one. Alas, some may say my head is oversize at 1:1 scale...

Some models are PFA approved.

And for something more challenging (larger)"

And an organization of like minded folks:

There are also some Yahoo Groups for replica fighters like the FW-190 and the Spitfore I think. Not sure if they have one for the Corsair.
