Warbird Kid,
The kit just seems to be of poor quality, this opinion based on Testor's, Revell, and Academy 1/72 kits I've done lately. The Mincraft PBY wing halves just didn't mate well, the main float struts were too big for the wing halves to fit well and I just don't have the dexterity anymore to build little dinky bitty stuff like that. There were some technical inaccuracies too. The blisters are staggered! aaarrrgh. The main gear is too tiny to fit together and hold up the model. Mine sits on the nose, left and the step. The fuselage halves had a gap along the top aft and there's a gap through the fin where to horizontals attach.
I painted this one like the Chartreuse Goose, creamy yellow with dark green trim, based on an old photo I have of it and the colors coming through the chips in the Pensacola-applied Navy blue. I even clipped the prop blade tips like it got with its last engine change.
