"Grumpy", Spitfire Mk. I, No. 602 Squadron, R.A.F.

Afternoon Gents,

Well after several months of labor intensive work, "Grumpy is complete. May I add... its about time too. :D lol

There have been a LOT of ups and downs with this build... from while skinning the port wing the rubber band holding it taught, broke the wing off, to replacing the wing and then having my dog crush the wing AGAIN! :P

I persevered though and she is finally a reality. :D This particular Supermarine Spitfire Mk. I, is recreating P/O George Pinkerton's Spitfire "Grumpy". Pinkerton in October 1939, he was the first pilot to down a German aircraft over England. He was a member of No. 602 Squadron flying from R.A.F. Drem, in Scotland with No. 13 Group.

So without further adue... here's "Grumpy" :D

Well, if she "was" to fly she'd be a rubber park flier :D I built this one as a model though. This was my first balsa model completion and I still have TONS of learning to do before I perfect everything.

I enjoyed building it, no doubt but, I still need a lot of practice till I'm to a point I'm happy with in my knowledge and skills that go into building balsa model kits.
