Post subject:  Mustang work in progress

In appreciation of the help given on the Mustang project so far, I thought I'd post some pics of the rest of the model. It's been in this shape for a few years, and I thought it was time to dig it out of the box and try to finish it. Thanks to the help, I know know more of the direction it is heading.

The cockpit is a True Details resin item that surely must rank as one of the "best buys" ever. Cheap, fits reasonably well and looks well detailed and accurate to my eyes. Somehow, I feel there are some missing wires and harnesses behind the seat though, so I'll probably go back and do some more work here.

Nice work.
Is that putty that is on some of the seams?
Everytime I use it makes a mess trying to sand it smooth because it's harder then the plastic.

What's your take on it?

Thanks...

Post subject:  Filler

The fuselage seams have been painted with Mr.Surfacer 500 to fill some shallow seams, whereas the wings were airbrushed with Humbrol enamel to highlight any seams. The best one component filler I've ever used is Tamiya that is almost as hard as the plastic itself, and you can scribe in it without it chipping. Superfine Milliput (the white stuff) is my choice when filling large gaps or building up shapes, tough it is somewhat brittle and may loosen if you flex the plastic too much.
